Haohyohno (Ken Maracle) is a faith keeper of the Lower Cayuga Longhouse and a member of the Cayuga Nation, Iroquois Confederacy, Deer Clan.

Ken has been making reproduction Wampum Belts for more than 20 years. He also makes canes, Condolence Canes, Horn Rattles, Traditional Headdresses and more.

As well as being an expert craftsman Ken speaks the Cayuga language and is knowledgable about the history of Wampum and the history of his people.

His many years of studying The Great Law, Longhouse Traditions, Hodinoshon:ni history, Condolence Ceremony and Longhouse Ceremonies make him a qualified and expert tutor.

Ken is honoured to have learned from such well known and knowledgable elders as Reg Henry, Marge Henry, Elliot Crawford, Jim Styres, Jake Thomas, Yvonne Thomas, and others.

Ken works full time as a machinist and devotes as much time as possible to preserving Iroquois languages, culture and traditions.

 

Ken is willing to share his artistry with others. He has given cultural presentations and/or wampum workshops for various organizations and schools throughout NY State, Ontario and BC. He can provide workshops on:

4. Traditional Iroquoian Gahsdo:wah (headdress)

5. Condolence Cane

Ken is also qualified to teach classes in:
